The SkyEdge modem
comes complete with all parts necessary to connect to the customer’s
computer. Note that it has an external power supply, rather than
just the power cord needed by previous satellite modems used by
StarBand. Included in the SkyEdge modem box are
·
SkyEdge Modem
·
Crossover RJ-45 Ethernet Cable
·
External Power Supply and Power
Cable

Similar to
previous StarBand products, the front panel contains six LED
indicators. Unlike the StarBand Model 360 and Model481/484 modems,
there is not a PC light to indicate connectivity between the
customer’s computer and the modem. The lights on the SkyEdge modem
are:
PWR
= Power
Rx
= Receive Lock
Sync
= Hub synchronization
On-Line
= Hub Connection [Download in progress or modem online]
Tx

VPN=

service applications. This is for Large Enterprise applications
using the same hardware]

The SkyEdge modem
provides a single Ethernet port for connecting the customer’s PC,
similar to the StarBand Model 481 modem. There is no USB port, and
the serial port is not functional for StarBand applications. From
left to right, the rear panel contains the following connections:
RF-IN
- Female F-type connector; IFL cable from LNB
Serial Port
- Standard serial port. Not used in StarBand applications
LAN
- RJ-45 Ethernet for PC connection.
RF-OUT
- Female F-Type connector: IFL cable out to ODU
Power Supply
– DIN connection for External Power Supply: +24vdc/2.8A
NOTE:
There is no power switch. To
power up or reset the modem, it is necessary to unplug the DIN
connector from the modem.
